When to Use a Tempered Glass

If you’ve ever been confused about what a tempered glass is, or how to use it, this article is for you! Here, we’ll discuss the difference between regular glass and tempered glass, as well as how to use it in your home.

Tempered Glass vs Regular Glass

Regular glass is made from sand and recycled materials. It’s brittle and can’t take much pressure without breaking or shattering. It’s also heavy—regular glass weighs about 4 pounds per square foot.

Tempered glass, on the other hand, is made from a different kind of sand with additives added to make it stronger than regular glass. The additives make it more flexible and more durable while still retaining its clarity. Temperatures are raised during manufacturing so that when the material cools down again at room temperature, it is more resistant to breaking under pressure than regular glass would be if exposed to similar stressors (like hitting something hard enough to break).

This means that it’s still possible for tempered glass to break under high impact forces—but not nearly as often as regular glass would break under similar circumstances!
